Chiropractic Treatment for Children, Is It Safe?

As a parent of two children, I’m always wondering what really is safe for my kids. Debates about healthcare for children have always sparked a keen interest in me, and the issues surrounding chiropractic treatment for kids were no different.

However, it wasn’t until about a year ago that I really began to do my research on it. Since then, I’ve had many parents approach me for advice.

Many parents wonder if chiropractic treatment for children actually is safe. The short answer for this question – in my opinion – would be yes, it is safe. However, it’s also important that parents know any risks that come along with this treatment before taking their children to a chiropractor.

From all the research that I have done it seems that while chiropractic treatment performed correctly is safe, it may not always be the best option of treatment.

For example, if little Johnny has an ear infection, chiropractic treatment obviously isn’t the best option to help him! Whereas, if Johnny has stiff joints and back pain, chiropractic treatment may indeed be the answer; this may seem a no-brainer but you’d be surprised by what I get asked! In short, it all depends on the type of problem your child has, and if it can be treated with chiropractic methods.

When my child came to me complaining of back aches, I decided to look into where I could take him to receive this somewhat controversial treatment.

We found a local place offering holistic health care in Rayleigh, Essex. After enough research, we took the plunge and I can now say my child rarely complains of back pain after going to see his specialist once per month. For us, chiropractic treatment was definitely the right option.

I have found that chiropractic treatment for children generally is safe, as long as you go to a licensed practitioner of course. This isn’t something that one could do at home, which would probably cause further injury rather than improve the situation.

Other countries are also jumping on the chiropractic band wagon. In fact, both American chiropractic associations endorse chiropractic treatment for children. However, it should be noted that this sort of treatment is not recommended for infants or toddlers.

Nevertheless, for older children and even teens, chiropractic treatment could be the most brilliant thing to happen to them. One definite plus about this type of treatment is that it’s non-invasive and doesn’t require the use of any harsh chemicals or medications.

For parents looking for a more natural treatment to their child’s ailments, chiropractic treatment is where they should be looking. I say this as a parent myself. I view chiropractic treatment as safe and effective for many different disorders.

Without taking my own child to receive this treatment, he would still be taking two to three ibuprofens per day, which cannot be good for anyone. His sleep patterns have also improved immensely which has had a positive impact on his schoolwork too. I honestly believe that without chiropractic treatment, my child would not be as happy as he is now.

Chiropractic treatment for children may seem scary, which is understandable. As parents, we all want the best for our children, we also all want to protect them. But from my own research, and my own experiences, chiropractic treatment for children is safe and can be very beneficial and helpful.

Of course, looking into other treatments is fine as well, but for certain problems, chiropractic treatment may be the best choice. It is completely safe, doesn’t use chemicals or medications and can help with so many ailments. Chiropractic treatment for children is a wonderful thing, my child is living proof of it.
